***Celebratory Giveaway***

Well, I say celebratory, let’s consider it a thank you, from me to you.

This whole Covid-19 thing has been very hard for most of the people I know personally, incredibly challenging for many, especially those with loved ones working in key jobs or isolating. I’ve been terribly fortunate to live in Exeter, where we have plenty of green space visible from home, and everywhere is accessible by foot, but it has made me even more appreciative of nature.

As you’ll know, I make lots of silver jewellery and nature inspires much of it – from peapods (currently sold out) to forget-me-nots to sycamore keysΒ  and of course edible flowers

I am going to offer a handmade floral sterling necklace / pair of earrings / pin to whoever I get #LovelySue to pick from the list once this giveaway expires, on June 30th*.

Worldwide postage will be included in the prize, so please don’t feel you can’t enter if you live outside the UK. This is something I’m doing to show appreciation for all of you who’ve bought, shared or commented on my work over the past few years. Thank you; every interaction helps to make me feel validated and every sale helps us financially.

To participate, please comment with your favourite flower, and if you have a photo you can upload in the comments to enable us all to ogle at it’s gloriousness, all the better.

There’s absolutely no requirement to share this post on your timeline or in any groups, but of course, if you do that helps raise my profile, and that’s something for which I’m very grateful.

If you are on Facebook, the same process applies, on Twitter, there’ll be another chance, which will involve retweeting, and on Instagram, it will be to upload a picture of your favourite (or one of!) flower

The hashtag to use when reposting or entering outside of comments on here isΒ  #DGDFloralGiveaway2020 so that I can keep track of all the entries

I’ll start with a few of my faves..

Sweetpeas from last year, dog rose, apple blossom, nigella and a rose from this year.

*I will work out some way of doing this whilst 2m distant πŸ˜€

(as always, this giveaway isn’t endorsed by any social media company in any way, and they won’t be held liable for anything πŸ˜‰ )

That is a lovely generous thought Dawn. My favourite flower changes as the seasons do! At the moment it is roses but something else will come out and take their place in my heart. Please don’t enter me in the giveaway – I wear jewellery so rarely, not even my wedding or engagement rings, that it would be a waste. Beautiful things should be used and enjoyed not kept in a box.

What a lovely girl you are! I have many favourite, but the most stunning flower I’ve ever seen is a ‘Pink Lipstick’ Heliconia I photographed in Hunte’s Gardens, Barbados. It has this amazing sculptural shape and totally unlikely colours, and didn’t look quite real:

One of these days, I’ll persuade it to grow in my garden. In the meantime, I’d love to see it hanging round my neck!
As for the selection process, why don’t you use an apple-picking net on a long handle? πŸ™‚

  3. so very generous and thoughtful. I love your work inspired by nature, being outdoors has been an escape for many people in this difficult time. My favorite flower changes on a daily basis and I love individual flowers, close up and personal. This morning, hosta – that I saved from the deer, the colour is so delicate. I always wear earrings, mostly silver, even in the garden. Without them I don’t feel dressed. (can’t seem to upload the picture!!)

    • Sorry about the photo uploading – I’m not sure why that would be. Perhaps you could try on one of the other social media platforms if you’d like to share the beauty, or message me the photo and I’ll try (I’ve done that for someone else already over on FB!) I love earrings and bangles particularly, myself Thank you for playing

  4. Shooting Stars! They are early spring flowers, such a vivid colour, and I love the name!

I’m like Going Batty – don’t wear jewellery any more so it would be wasted on me. BUT…watch me tweet about your very generous offer. You’re a nice person, Silversmith. -hugs-

  6. Oooh, I’ve just been looking at your etsy shop … what lovely things you do make. My favourite time of year is probably the spring and I love all those beautiful flowers that appear in the hedge banks before the grass takes over… stitchwort, celandine, violets… I could go on…

  7. The whole lock down has definitely made me appreciate a whole lot more – including appreciating things even more that I already appreciated. Not sure I’ve got a favourite flower, so I won’t name one and leave someone else to win your very generous prize.
